Madhuri was a top model before she entered the film industry. Her career was launched by the Rajshri’s film, Abodh and the film failed and bombed at the box office. However, it was N Chandra’s Tezaab that actually marked her entry into Bollwyood. Also, her mentor, Subhash Ghai saw enough potential in her to ignore this petite newcomer. He offered her a role in his film, Ram Lakhan and sine then there was no looking back for her.

After her movie Tezaab was a hit, the rest of her movies till ’94 like Dayavan, Ram Lakhan, Dil, Saajan, Beta, Khalnayak and the record breaking blockbuster Hum Aapke Hai Kaun!. However after this it was a low period for the actress as her films were mostly flops. Then after a low of three years the actress bounced back with the super hit Dil To Pagal Hai. She won her fourth Filmfare Best Actress Award for her role in this film.
